Deeply ingrained in our thinking, reinforced by social structures and limited by economical models, we have only a narrow view on how to do work. What we call a “company” is to get people together and get things done using available methods of funding, marketing and internal organisational resources. Managing people. We follow the standard model of operations that we’ve been taught in business schools with fierce energy, being fully convinced that the only way to a brighter future is to be better, stronger, smarter than the others. As a result we contribute to the ill-structure of competition against each other, all too often putting “success” above human values and care for the environment. That is not only a suboptimal way of operations, but leading the world to the edge of self-destruction. Putting humanitarian concerns aside, too much energy is used to overcome market limitations, making us no better than hamsters in a wheel.
With a goal to evolve these destructive patterns, we offer a superior organisational model and new mode of operations that we call a Meta-Organisation.
Meta organisation has nothing to do with Metaverse. Rather, It redefines the paradigm of thinking on how business is done, shifting from people to connections. Instead of operating using people, we operate by connecting organisations into processes. Being an organisation of organisations, instead of organisation of people, we think in terms of collaboration and value creation to all, rather than to yourself, allowing us to operate on a small margin, using little resources and energy. As a matter of fact as shown by our practical research, meta-organisation can run an extensive network of operations with just a few or one person. It’s a holistic framework that instructs companies to approach work from an organisational, rather than management point, focusing on creating an ecosystem and opportunities of collaboration. It is a less straightforward approach that cannot be planned in a traditional way. However it offers a high variability, viability and flexibility in ways to create and operate. Instead of tirelessly fighting the competition for limited resources, we invite companies to observe the system of connections, seeking hidden potential of collaborations and creating structures to enable others to do work more efficiently. In essence it's a service, yet it can gain a significant share of ownership of the whole system and most importantly - share of the system's overall value, while it's not the primary goal or necessity.
While it might sound like a fantastic idea, it's a deeply practical and highly efficient way of operations. Scope in such organisations is achieved much faster combined with their innate capability to sustain it on extremely low operating costs and margin. As a result, such companies are more resilient, flexible and persistent. Small teams are more innovative, unified and efficient. Having set the operational system, such companies are more attractive to funding, offering investors a lucrative opportunity for growth of their portfolio.
Meta-organisation is not only a highly efficient mode of operations, it is empowering human progress, by shifting the paradigm from competition to collaboration. It is the way to a brighter future.
